Who are you?
The name is Marcela, marc for short. I always liked the abbreviation because it sounds less feminine. I am currently studying third year Media & Communications degree in UNSW.

Why Media & Communication?
To be honest I am more interested in the practical component of this course. As a little girl I have always been those kinds of kids that enjoy getting herself immersed in colourful paints, clays and jigsaw puzzles. As I grew older my love for arts and crafts grew and I began to appreciate how arts and designs made the world a whole lot more beautiful and enjoyable to look at. I was barely 14 when a friend of mine lend me her copy of Adobe Photoshop, and from then on I have a big attachment to the program. Slowly I began to learn to appreciate the other software Adobe has put out, and from then on I slowly develop skills in Flash, InDesign, Illustator, HTML and CSS. My skills on these programs are still fairly basic, but I am always looking for new opportunities to extend those skills and possibly gain new skills to get me closer and closer to that dream career.

I learned through the course of this last two years that it is impossible to be creating something out of nothing. So even if I am more interested in the practical side of things, theory are something that gives a ground on the practical work. Media is ever changing and I feel that we have to understand it fully to be able to exploit its full capabilities. Being a media student have allowed me to develop an understanding of media, its development and changes, something I am sure will be a good starting point for the years to come.

Why the name?
It has been my identity for a while, it accompanied me through multiply, flickr, deviantart, del.icio.us, twitter (despite I only posted once in the latter before we were required to use it). So when I had to create a few other accounts for other sites, this name springs to mind just to keep the constant going. In the end I still used it however childish it still sounds to me.

So, what now?
This blog will be a channel of my media related random thoughts, maybe also a collection of works. This blog is going to be here mostly for uni purposes, but that doesn’t limit the capabilities of what this could be. Unfortunately my thoughts tends to come in a jumbled form, confusing sometimes even for myself. So for those that attempt to make sense of it, I give my kudos to you.

Enjoy,
marc.
